Which Maya day were you born on?
The Long Count counts the days since an origin date, 11 August 3114 BCE in the GMT correlation, in units of 1 day (k’in), 20 days (winal), 360 days (tun), 7,200 days (k’atun) and 144,000 days (b’ak’tun). The Tzolk’in combines 13 numbers with 20 day names and repeats every 260 days. The Haab’ has 18 months of 20 days plus the five days of Wayeb’: 365 in all. The Tzolk’in and Haab’ realign every 52 years, a cycle known as the Calendar Round.
The 260-day calendar remains a living tradition in Maya communities. In K’iche’ it is called Chol Q’ij. This tool displays Tzolk’in names; it does not replace the interpretation of the people who keep that tradition.
Why your result may differ from other websites
Some websites use Dreamspell, a modern system created by José and Lloydine Argüelles in the late 1980s and published in the early 1990s, with a different count. KRATOS uses the GMT 584283 correlation, the same one the Smithsonian uses, and does not calculate a Dreamspell kin. That is why results may differ.
